The library’s genealogy collection is housed in the Garst Memorial Library in Marshfield. Print records of Webster County census, marriages and cemetery inscriptions, as well as family histories, war and Indian rolls are also here. Data from surrounding counties is also available.
Microfilm of all Webster County newspapers to date is available, just ask library staff at the circulation desk.
The genealogical collection is equipped with a digital microfilm reader and two public computers dedicated to genealogy research. The digital microfilm reader has the ability to digitally crop, copy, and save your data in a variety of formats. You can also save paper and money by emailing the data to your email account. Our many visitors tell us we have one of the best collections for a small library that they’ve seen in the U.S. Come visit us — the Missouri Room is open during all library hours.
Users of our genealogy computers – Please Read: These computers are only to be used for genealogy research. Web content is filtered, you will only be able to go to genealogical websites on our approved list.
