WINTER WEATHER POLICY

According to library policy, when the local school district is closed due to weather or road conditions, the library will also be closed. For scheduled school holidays or weekends, library administration will make the best decision for closing due to weather or road conditions.

This policy allows you to know if we are open or not during times of inclement weather without calling or making a wasted trip to the library. We value the safety of our patrons and staff, many of whom live on rural roads.

Please stay safe in times of inclement weather. We appreciate our patrons!

Driver Training

The Webster County Library has partnered with Driving-Tests.org, a company dedicated to driver safety and education, to offer free Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) practice tests to library patrons, starting on 27 March 2018. The practice tests are based on the state’s actual DMV materials.

The creators of Driving-Tests.org have emphasized availability and accessibility to help new drivers study state manuals and take driving practice tests. Partnership with Driving-Tests.org allows the us to harness the power of Driving-Tests.org’s specialized practice exams to turn new drivers into safer drivers.

Inclement Weather Policy

Some situations may require altered hours of operation or complete closure of one or more Webster County Library branches. All reasonable attempts will be made to keep libraries open during weather related or unplanned events. The safety of our patrons ans staff are of the utmost importance.

Library facilities will be closed if the corresponding public school district closes due to inclement weather. In some cases library staff will attempt to open, if circumstances allow. Please do not travel to the library without first calling, checking the website, or our Facebook page to ensure the library is open.

Early closures may be announced at any time during the work day to ensure the safety of patrons and staff traveling in the evening hours.

Closures will be announced to the public via the library website, social media and signage if staff is able to travel to the library for posting.

Due dates for library materials due on dates the library is closed will be adjusted accordingly.

Thank you and stay safe!
